On August 25, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade received Mojtaba Damirchilou, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to our country.

During the cordial conversation, they touched upon the importance of strengthening historical and traditional ties in all areas, including the religious and spiritual spheres, between the states and peoples of Azerbaijan and Iran. Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade wished the new ambassador success in his future activities. The Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB) chairman stated that the official visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to our country and his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Khankendi Summit are historical events of great significance. He expressed hope that these events will give a significant positive push to the relations and deepen cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking about the large-scale reconstruction work in the liberated Karabakh and the revival of the religious and spiritual heritage that was subjected to vandalism, Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade assessed this as an event of pan-Islamic importance and advised the ambassador to visit those territories.

The Iranian ambassador praised Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade as an important figure for Azerbaijan and the entire region, and as an influential leader who represents Azerbaijan at a high level on a global scale and on international platforms. He expressed his gratitude for the reception. Congratulating the CMB chairman on his birthday, Mr. Damirchilou noted that Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade is highly respected in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He presented a letter of invitation to the CMB chairman for an international conference to be held in the Islamic Republic of Iran and provided information about the event that will take place in Iran to celebrate the 1500th anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Ambassador Damirchilou highly valued the Summit of Religious Leaders in Baku within the framework of COP29 as an important event and noted with satisfaction that Mr. Shahriyari would represent Iran at the event.

During the reception, which took place in a sincere atmosphere, the importance of peace and cooperation in the world and our region was emphasized, and the necessity of mutual efforts to strengthen friendship, neighborly relations, and brotherhood was noted.
