On September 8, a meeting of the Board of the Azerbaijan Elders' Council was held on the topic, "The Diplomatic Victory of Our Victorious Leader Guarantees Peace and Stability in the Region."

According to AZERTAC, the meeting's agenda included the historical significance of the Washington meeting between President and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as a discussion of the signed Joint Declaration and the position and calls of the Azerbaijan Elders' Council.

Speeches were delivered at the meeting by the council's chairman Eldar Guliyev, first deputy chairman Ahliman Amiraslanov, deputy chairmen Eldar Ibrahimov, Vahid Novruzov, and Bayram Yusifov, as well as members of the Board, including Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Isa Habibbayli, Ziyad Samadzade, Misir Mardanov, Vagif Shadlinski, Arif Humbatov, Vagif Maharramov, and others.

In their speeches, it was noted that the diplomatic achievements under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev have further strengthened Azerbaijan's international reputation and confirmed the country's leading role in the region. The Washington meeting was highlighted as not only the beginning of a new phase in Azerbaijan-Armenia relations but also as being of strategic importance for ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

The Azerbaijan Elders' Council also adopted a statement during the meeting. The statement emphasized that the results of the summit held in Washington on August 8 of this year are considered a historical achievement. The Joint Declaration, signed as a result of President Ilham Aliyev's resolute political will and high diplomatic strategy, is the official confirmation of the establishment of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

The document noted that the initialing of the Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations is considered a major diplomatic success for the nation and a historic step towards strengthening Azerbaijan's international reputation. The termination of the OSCE Minsk Group's activities demonstrates the closure of the conflict page and the acceptance of new realities based on international law. Simultaneously, the realization of the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" project via the Zangezur Corridor opens up new opportunities for the economic development of the region and the well-being of its people. This historic document, which is a turning point for the restoration of peace and good-neighborly relations in the South Caucasus, opens up bright prospects for future generations.

The Azerbaijan Elders' Council called on the public to further strengthen national solidarity and to constantly support the peace and development policy carried out by the head of state by rallying closely around him. It also invited friendly and brotherly nations, as well as international organizations and states, to cooperate on the path to peace and stability.

The statement concluded by once again stressing that the historic diplomatic victory of President Ilham Aliyev, the worthy successor to the political course of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, guarantees peace and stability in the region.
