On March 14, the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, met with Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, the former Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), who arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the XII Global Baku Forum.
Sheikh-ul-Islam expressed his pleasure to see his 45-year-long friend in our country again and once again conveyed his thanks to Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu for always supporting Azerbaijan’s just position during his leadership of the OIC.
The CMB Chairman spoke about the large-scale construction work being carried out in the liberated territories after the historic Karabakh Victory, under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade regrettably noted that the revanchist statements of the Armenian Church create an obstacle to achieving lasting peace in the region.
The CMB Chairman, drawing attention to the high level of state-religion relations in our country, stated that the policy founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being successfully continued today, and the harmony among religions and denominations in Azerbaijan is an exemplary model.
Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu thanked his childhood friend, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, for the warm welcome and kind words, and stated that Ilham Aliyev, who achieved the resolution of the 30-year Karabakh problem and ensured the territorial integrity of his country, has proven to be a resolute leader and delivered a crushing blow to the powerful Armenian lobby and their patrons around the world.
The guest, mentioning that important issues were discussed at the XII Global Baku Forum, stated that in recent years, brotherly Azerbaijan has become a venue where vital decisions for the future of the world are adopted.
Expressing his satisfaction with the high level of the religious environment and understanding among denominations in our country, the former OIC Secretary General drew attention to the importance of disseminating Azerbaijan's positive experience in the Islamic world, and said that he always values the many years of activity of Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade.
During the conversation, an exchange of views on various topics took place, and a commemorative photo was taken at the end of the meeting.
