*Pashazade and Association President Cole Durham Discuss Future of Global Interreligious Dialogue*
*BAKU, Azerbaijan* – Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), held a significant video conference on December 1 with Cole Durham, President of the G20 Interfaith Forum Association, to discuss the future direction and structural reforms of the organization.
The meeting, held at Mr. Durham's request, emphasized the high level of cooperation built on mutual trust and shared objectives between the CMB and the Association.
*Commitment to Global Dialogue*
Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade highly praised the Association’s work and highlighted his long-standing commitment to the platform, noting his consistent participation in five consecutive forums held globally.
-He underscored that his involvement proves his high esteem for the platform’s peace-mission activities.
-Pashazade stressed that in the current era, where threats to human life and existence are increasing, the joint efforts of political, public, and religious leaders are vital, necessitating enhanced global dialogue.
-He also noted that the tradition of holding Interfaith Forums ahead of the G20 Summits has become a practical demonstration of fruitful collaboration between state and religious representatives.
Consulting on Reforms
Mr. Durham specifically thanked Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade for his continuous involvement and recalled that during a recent meeting in the USA, he had requested the Sheikh-ul-Islam’s recommendations regarding planned structural reforms within the G20 Interfaith Forum, citing his extensive experience.
Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade valued the proposed reforms and shared his detailed thoughts and recommendations on the matter.
Mr. Durham assured him that his advice would be carefully considered during the implementation process.
*Focus on a Permanent Interreligious Council*
The parties engaged in an extensive discussion regarding the mechanism for establishing a permanent Interreligious Council under the Interfaith Forum. This proposed body would serve to bring together recognized representatives from various faiths for continuous activity and dialogue.
