An event was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the signing of the peace treaty after World War II.
According to AZERTAC, the ceremony was hosted by Akkan Suver, head of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation. It was attended by representatives of diplomatic corps in Istanbul, including Azerbaijan's Consul General in the city, Narmina Mustafayeva, along with Turkish government officials, academics, and others.
The event began with a video message from Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), addressed to the ceremony's participants. In his message, Sheikh-ul-Islam spoke about the great damage wars inflict on humanity and recalled the long years of occupation of Azerbaijan's Karabakh region. He also discussed the situation that has emerged in the South Caucasus after the Patriotic War and the historic success achieved in Washington. He emphasized that events like this play a major role in refreshing people's memories, expressing his wish for bloody wars to end and guns to fall silent in all parts of the world soon.
The event continued with presentations on the topic by Turkish professors İlber Ortaylı, Hasan Ünal, Nilüfer Narlı, and others.
