Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), participated in the ceremony held in the Vatican dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the "Nostra Aetate" document.

AZERTAC reports that at the event titled "Stepping Together for Hope," held in the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican, Cardinal George Jacob Kavakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Holy See, and Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, delivered welcoming speeches.

Subsequently, Pope Leo XIV delivered an address, stating that deep and lasting ties have been established between the Catholic Church and other religions, including Islam, in recent years, and thanked everyone working to promote this dialogue. The importance of the historic Document on Human Fraternity, signed in Abu Dhabi in 2019 by the late Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed El-Tayeb, was noted.

The Pontiff called on people to condemn violence and injustice, oppose divisions, and promote peace.

The event, attended by approximately two thousand people, included religious leaders from various countries and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See.

It should be noted that "Nostra Aetate" is a key document of the Second Vatican Council, which forms the foundation of the Roman Catholic Church's relations with non-Christian religions.
